<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article focuses on the Government of National Unity formed in South Africa in June 2024. Its establishment followed the general elections, in which the ruling African National Congress (ANC) underperformed, receiving only 40.18% of the votes. In this regard, the ANC leadership put forward a proposal to establish the Government of National Unity (GNU) and engaged in consultations with other parliamentary parties. As a result of long and difficult negotiations, the government included ten parties, including the Democratic Alliance (DA), which had previously been the leading opposition party. However, two other major parties (the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the Umkhonto we Sizwe (MKP), led by former South African President and ANC leader Jacob Zuma) remained outside the GNU. The article subsequently examines the activities of the GNU, with a particular focus on the tensions between the ANC and the DA, the latter having unsuccessfully attempting to establish its own “government” within the GNU. The paper concludes by outlining possible future scenarios for the GNU.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>ЮАР</kwd><kwd>всеобщие выборы</kwd><kwd>Правительство национального единства</kwd><kwd>«Африканский национальный конгресс»</kwd><kwd>«Демократический альянс»</kwd><kwd>партия «Умконто ве сизве»</kwd><kwd>партия «Борцы за экономическую свободу»</kwd><kwd>Южноафриканская коммунистическая партия</kwd><kwd>Сирил Рамапоса</kwd><kwd>Джон Стинхейзен</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>South Africa</kwd><kwd>general elections</kwd><kwd>Government of National Unity</kwd><kwd>African National Congress</kwd><kwd>Democratic Alliance</kwd><kwd>Umkhonto we Sizwe party</kwd><kwd>Economic Freedom Fighters party</kwd><kwd>South African Communist Party</kwd><kwd>Cyril Ramaphosa</kwd><kwd>John Steenhuisen</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Статья подготовлена при поддержке гранта Министерства науки и высшего образования Российской Федерации на проведение крупных научных проектов по приоритетным направлениям научно-технологического развития № 075-15-2024-551 «Глобальные и региональные центры силы в формирующемся мироустройстве».</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">This article was prepared with the support of a grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation for major scientific projects in priority areas of scientific and technological development No. 075-15-2024-551 “Global and regional centers of power in the emerging world order”.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Analysis of South Africa’s 2024 Elections and the Coalitions Aftermath / Ed. by S.
